I’m starting to look at colleges to transfer my credits into. Of the big three, I’ve narrowed it down to Excelsior or TESU (Thomas Edison State University). I am leaning toward TESU for a couple of reasons.
The main reason is the ability to test out of the capstone requirement for the BSBA in General Management. The secondary reason is that TESU is relatively close to my hometown. I really would like to walk for my diploma and it would be nice to have friends and family be able to attend if they want to. Other than that, there don’t seem to be many major differences that I can see.
It seems like a lot of people wait pretty long before applying so that there’s little or no chance of having to pay the out-of-state tuition requirement more than once. I plan to go this route, perhaps applying when I reach the 90 credit maximum from one source that I can transfer. I will have to look at the application deadlines and graduation deadlines to fine tune this. Both seem like fine options, but when thinking about Excelsior or TESU, I’m mostly swayed by the ability to test out of the Business Capstone. It would be nice to walk for a degree this fall, but that might be pushing it. More on this in upcoming posts.
